Landlord threatening wellness check after failed eviction attempt. Is this harassment?

Hey everyone, I’m in a really frustrating situation with my landlord and could use some advice. They tried to evict us with an N12 notice, but it was dismissed by the LTB. Since then, they’ve been sending constant emails saying we’re ‘no longer welcome’ and asking what it’ll take for us to leave.

We’ve been ignoring these messages because we don’t think they’re sincere about negotiating. Now they’re threatening to call for a wellness check if we keep ignoring them. This feels like harassment to me. Can they really do this? Should I file a T2 application with the LTB?

This is absolutely harassment. Your landlord is trying to intimidate you into leaving after their legal attempt failed. Here’s what you should do:

  1. Document everything. Save all emails, texts, and voicemails.
  2. Respond once, clearly stating that you’re fine and that further unnecessary contact will be considered harassment.
  3. File a T2 application with the LTB for harassment.
  4. Contact your local police non-emergency line to inform them of the situation in case the landlord does call for a wellness check.

Remember, you have the right to quiet enjoyment of your home. The landlord can’t force you out just because they want you gone.

omg that sounds awful! my landlord tried something similar last year. have u considered offering them money to leave u alone? sometimes it’s worth it for peace of mind

No, don’t offer them money! That’s exactly what they want. The landlord is the one harassing OP, they shouldn’t have to pay to be left alone. Stick to your guns, OP. File that T2 and let the LTB handle it.
